HISTORY
Saint Nicholas School, 10420 Mullins, was established
in 1987 as a private independent school by a group including the school heads,
general partners, staff, parents, grandparents, and friends.
Saint Nicholas School was named a member of the
"Houston 100" in 1991 for being one of the fastest growing companies
in the Houston-Galveston area. Parent
support has produced that growth for the four acre Southwest campus.
A second school, Saint Nicholas II, was opened in
1995 at 1920 N. Braeswood. Parents and
friends were invited to join in these ventures of providing schools that were
not available for the community: a combination of academic excellence,
innovative materials, and personal attention.
The general partners of the schools under the
sponsorship of the non-profit Medical Center Charter School were granted one of
the first six Open Enrollment Charters in Texas in 1996. This school has its main office at the
Medical Center campus. It is a Texas
Open Enrollment Charter School, free of tuition, offering grades PK-6. Eleven classes are held in separate
classroom and playground space at the southwest campus.
The Saint Nicholas
management team has established a reputation for excellence and innovation in
private and public education, incorporating the Saint Nicholas method.
